Purebreds are the most prized — and most controlled — class of slaves in Chinderia. Unlike freeborn slaves, who are captured, convicted, or sold into bondage, purebreds are bred into slavery. They are raised in isolated ranches under brutal, highly regulated conditions to ensure obedience, efficiency, and emotional detachment.

These ranches are closely guarded by the Domestic Assets Trade Union (DATU). Their locations are not publicly known, and all procedures related to the breeding, training, and upkeep of purebreds fall under DATU’s strict authority. Only DATU-registered Breeders are allowed to raise them, and every stage of a purebred’s development is meticulously controlled — from nutrition to conditioning to punishment.

Purebreds are trained from infancy to follow the Acts of Defiance — a codified list of forbidden behaviours that, if broken, result in swift correction or punishment. These include:

  • No eye contact
  • No speaking without permission
  • No showing desire, asking for anything, or claiming personal wants
  • No harming a free person unless ordered to do so

What sets purebreds apart, beyond their flawless obedience, is the belief that they do not possess a “rhoa” — a soul, or the inner force that makes a person truly human. This belief is reinforced by religious figures, the Pyres of the Twelve Riders, who teach that purebreds are born without the spark of self and therefore lack true feelings, opinions, or independent thought. As such, they are seen not just as property, but as less than human — tools designed for function, not life.

This perceived soullessness makes them vulnerable to outside influence — particularly from fiends of Darkhome. To counter this, all purebreds are bound by Words of Control: powerful verbal commands embedded during their training that override instinct, emotion, and will. These Words ensure loyalty, compliance, and safety — even in the most dangerous situations.

Purebreds are commonly bred into three functional castes:

  • Beasts, trained for combat and arena fighting
  • Flames, shaped for beauty, entertainment, and pleasure
  • House Slaves, raised for domestic tasks, though these are rare and considered luxury items—too expensive and resource-intensive for most to afford

Because of their conditioning, rarity, and perceived quality, purebreds are far more valuable than freeborn slaves. Owning one is a mark of wealth, power, or state authority. In Chinderia, they are the perfect tools—silent, obedient, and supposedly empty inside…
