In Chinderia, arenas are a cornerstone of culture, politics, and economy. Bloodsport is deeply woven into the national identity, and respected as a test of strength, skill, and control.

Arenas are tightly regulated by the Domestic Assets Trade Union (DATU). Every legitimate arena must be run by a DATU-registered Arena Master, who reports to their Regional Overseer of Sands. All regional overseers are accountable to the Master of Sands, who oversees all arena operations across the kingdom.

While large, city arenas draw massive crowds and royal attention, Chinderia is full of smaller venues too; roadside pits, village arenas, and even illegal underground rings.

Cheating in the arena is one of the few taboos that can unite even rival houses in outrage. Honour in the pit matters to the Chinderian people, sometimes more than it does outside it.

Though most arena fighters are slaves — particularly beasts trained for combat — free men can choose to fight at the smaller scale underground arenas.

Arena matches vary widely in rules, scale, and style depending on region, audience, and arena structure. From tournaments to chaotic group battles and contests against wild beasts, the format of the fight can be varied.
