October updates and wrap up

Yes, I know, I missed September, but here I am for October updates. October was too good not to talk about.

The month started strong with the release of my newest short story, A Taste of Rhythm and Courage (ATORAC). It was a short and sweet (or quick and dirty, depending on where your mind goes 😜) launch campaign and it was received really well. ATORAC gives a softer look at Lion and Saradra before everything goes horribly wrong (and if you’ve read Lion of Zarall, you’ll know just how rare that is). If you haven’t read it yet, you can grab it right here.

Not long after that, the amazing Billie Nicks launched her book Fear No Hell and threw an epic launch party over in the Dark and Depraved Readers Facebook Group. My PA got me a ticket as one of the participating authors, and it was such a fun experience, though we were probably on the wrong side of the world and missed most of the action.

I also attended a virtual self-publishing conference hosted by ALLi (the Alliance of Independent Authors). If you’ve never heard of them, they’re a fantastic organisation dedicated to supporting indie authors at every stage of their journey. Ethically, professionally, and practically. The sessions were packed with useful insights, and I came away with about four pages of notes and about fifty new ideas. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re a fellow indie author.

Then something really special happened: Lion of Zarall was accepted into a library for the very first time!

Thanks to the efforts of my PA, Blandford Library in the UK put a copy of LoZ on their shelves. I’ve never been to that library and the idea that my book is there, connecting with locals is just surreal. This is why I love libraries so much. They’re like little portals that connect the world (and other worlds) together.

That small moment set off something bigger: the start of my ongoing “Get Lion into the Library” campaign. You can read all about it here, and yes, there’s a giveaway involved!

The giveaway is running until November 30th, and entering is super easy:

  • Head over to this Instagram post
  • Like and share to your stories
  • Tag your local library (or a library you know if your local library is not on Insta)
  • Bonus entries if you request any of my books through your local library system

November is going to be huge. I’ve got announcements, reveals, and very cool things planned. If you want to be the first to know, be sure to join my newsletter. You won’t want to miss what’s coming next.
