August updates and wrap up

Every month I sit down thinking, nothing really happened, what am I even going to write? And yet, once I start, it keeps coming!

The highlight was finally sharing a gorgeous new piece of character art — Lion and Saradra brought to life (credit below). There’s another one waiting to be released, and more still to come, but I’m keeping those under wraps for now.

I also finished another round of writing bootcamp, which gave me the usual mix of exhaustion and momentum. My word count for this one was 15058. As you probably suspect by now, I am working on a new project, which is halfway done, thanks to these bootcamps.

Back in July (when I was still outlining this project), I asked my Instagram followers a question without any context. And they chose Waythorn. I have a proper title for this project of course, but for now we are calling it the Project Waythorn.

I also started the lore section on my website. This has been on my list forever, and now it’s finally happening. It’s where I can collect all those little pieces of worldbuilding — from the history of Chinderia to the way the arenas run — so readers who want to dig deeper can explore.

On the community side of things, I opened up a Discord server and started gathering my permanent street team members. The Discord server is open to ALL READERS actually, as well as street and ARC teams. It’s already shaping up into a cosy little corner, and I’m excited to see it grow. I’ll share the invitation link on my next newsletter.

Maps continue to be my guilty pleasure. This month’s was the room Lion and Saradra shared.

And then there’s the short story. I wrapped up revisions, got beta feedback, and now it’s in the home stretch. Next month I’ll finally share the title and the cover.

So yes, plenty happened in August after all. September is already brimming with plans — but I’ll save that for next time.
