July updates and wrap up

This month has been incredibly exciting. Well, the biggest highlight of the month was, of course, the release of Beast of Zarall!

The launch went amazingly. Don’t get me wrong—launching a book is extremely tiring. There are so many tasks, so many little things happening (and not happening, and needing to be fixed immediately) behind the scenes. But it is also very rewarding. And my launch team and ARC team have been incredibly supportive. They helped with social media posts, reviews, and just shouting at people about why this series needs to explode.

And the response to Beast of Zarall so far has been extremely positive. Check out what some of my readers are saying about BoZ;

“This series is a reminder of why I fell in love with reading.”

“A gut-wrenching, vivid, brilliantly written book that left me feeling like I’d gone twelve rounds with my own feelings.”

“The fights and trials are written beautifully and goodness gracious it was intense. As a bonus, there were some brilliant insults in the mix!”

“Lion is going to be one of my favorite characters for a while.”

“The world we walk into is grimdark, corrupted, and unforgiving”

“Beast is magnetic. His voice is raw, his anger earned, and his emotional journey devastatingly well-written.”

You can see the rest of the reviews here, and if you haven’t grabbed your copy of Beast of Zarall yet, it’s available now on Amazon. It’ll be in Kindle Unlimited for a limited time, so if you’re a KU reader, make sure to add it to your library as soon as possible. Once the KU period ends, BoZ will be available on all major ebook platforms.

I also finished a map of Olira’s farm, which was one of the preorder incentives (along with a high-resolution map of Chinderia). Both have now been sent out to everyone who preordered. I’m especially happy with how Olira’s farm turned out. I’m still new to map making, but I put a lot of care into the details—and most importantly, I had so much fun doing it!

As if I wasn’t already busy enough with the launch, I somehow decided to do another writing bootcamp at the start of the month. Fifteen of us took part, and we set a modest collective goal of 80,000 words in 10 days. We smashed it and ended up with 115,717 words. I personally hit 18,341 words, and I’m honestly pretty happy with that—especially considering everything else I had going on.

I know what you’re thinking: 18,341 words—what project do they belong to? What’s cooking right now?

Well… I’m going to sit on that secret just a little longer. But if you’re curious, make sure you’re subscribed to my newsletter. I’ll be making an announcement late August.

The StoryGraph giveaway I ran for Lion of Zarall wrapped up in mid-July. I’m currently waiting on the final numbers from the StoryGraph team, and once I have them, I’ll start reaching out and sending rewards to the winners. Over 2.6k people entered, and I’m genuinely thrilled with the attention the book received.

I also took part in a multi-author promo in July called High Fantasy with Grit. I love doing these kinds of promos with other authors. My readers get to discover new books, and their readers find mine. Both A Taste of Blade and Roar and Lion of Zarall reached a whole new wave of readers, and I’m really hoping some of them stick around and become part of this rapidly growing community.

It’s been a wild, busy, and honestly rewarding few weeks. Between the launch, maps, promos, and giveaways, I feel like I’ve barely had time to breathe. But seeing new readers discover this series and connect with these characters makes every late night (and 4.30am writing sessions in the mornings) worth it. Thanks for being here, for reading, for sharing, and for making this release so special. More is coming (so much more), but for now, I’m just really grateful.
