May Updates and Wrap Up

I don’t even know where May went. I had to actually sit down and dig through my brain to remember everything that happened, because somehow, it’s been a lot.

At the start of the month, I joined another writing bootcamp. I only managed 6,396 words. Not exactly impressive, but you know what? It’s fine. Progress is progress.

I also created a map of Chinderia! I cannot wait to share it. Turns out, I have a new passion: mapmaking. I now fully understand Lion’s obsession with maps. This is so much fun! It’s been surprisingly inspiring, and I’ve got a few new story ideas brewing. I just need to fix the rivers, add some labels, maybe a bit of colour and texture… then it’s ready for the world. But here is a little sneak peek.

Making maps has been very very inspiring!

Another highlight this month was giving developmental feedback on a fellow author’s outline for her next book. The story idea was so unique—nothing like I’ve read before—and I found myself thinking about it all day, sending her passionate voice notes with way too many thoughts. I loved it.

On the personal front, I started a new job (still in psychology, just a slightly different focus). The change happened really fast and it’s been full-on. Like, very full-on. I’m still transitioning out of the old job and the next few weeks are going to be chaotic, but after that, things should slow down a bit. The goal is to make more space in my life for writing and avoid another burnout. Fingers crossed.

And most importantly, I’ve been deep in my editing cave. I’ve barely touched social media (though I’ll always keep up with my newsletters, those bring me joy). My goal is to send out ARCs by the end of June, so I’m head-down, fully focused on getting the edits done.

Oh—and the biggest news of all: I’ve pulled Lion of Zarall out of KU.
You can read more about that decision here, but long story short: from today, LoZ is officially available at all major ebook retailers. I’m genuinely excited to reach new readers outside of Amazon-land.
