A Taste of Blade and Roar – Cover Reveal!

A Twilight of Blood Short Story

I’m thrilled to finally talk more about my prequel short story, A Taste of Blade and Roar (come on, let’s call it ATOBAR). I’ve mentioned about this short story before, and now it’s time I share some more details about it. At the end, you will also find the first glimpse of the cover!

This prequel to Lion of Zarall dives deeper into the gritty world of Chinderia. We get a glimpse of Lion’s origins and his complex relationship with the head trainer, Badimar. Badimar has been such an interesting character to write. He’s not black and white. Despite all the questionable things he does in Lion of Zarall, he’s a lot more complex than he looks. And I’m glad that ATOBAR gave me an opportunity to show Badimar’s layers and explain why Lion can’t simply hate him.

In ATOBAR, we also see another side character who plays a very little role in Lion of Zarall: Hopper. He’s one of the two freeborn beasts in the team, and he can’t get along with Lion. Their hostility starts from the very beginning.

A Taste of Blade and Roar – Blurb and Tropes

In the blood-soaked pit of the Switchblade Arena, survival is a spectacle, and death is entertainment.

The King’s newest gladiator, a young purebred beast raised for the arenas, must earn his place in the merciless head trainer’s team by surviving an impossible fight—a Slayer’s Pit. But as he steps onto the shifting sands, he discovers the arena offers far more than blood and death. What he finds there will shape the beast destined to become the Lion of Zarall.
